1. Acceptance and operator

By creating an account, accessing, or using Coventra (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms and the Data Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. “Coventra,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the independent operator of Coventra.app; they do not refer to a registered company or incorporated entity.

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter into these Terms.

2. Independent beta status

The Service is an experimental beta that may change, contain defects, become unavailable, or be discontinued. Features, launch limits, and access may change. The Service is not offered as HIPAA-compliant, and we do not enter into business associate agreements.

3. Service and research use

Coventra assists with study import, screening, extraction, risk-of-bias and evidence assessment, collaboration, statistical analysis through R, and research exports. Descriptions do not guarantee suitability for every review.

Human verification is required. You must check source values, eligibility decisions, settings, assumptions, R output, interpretation, and exports against source materials and your protocol. Coventra does not provide medical, legal, regulatory, ethics, or statistical consulting advice and must not be the sole basis for clinical care, publication, regulatory submission, or other high-stakes decisions.

4. Accounts

Provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and take responsibility for activity through your account and invited roles. Report suspected unauthorized access to support@coventra.app.

5. Permitted data only

You retain rights in content you lawfully upload and grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host and process it only as needed to operate and secure the Service.

Strictly prohibited: PHI; individual participant data; medical or patient records; directly or indirectly identifiable health data; government identifiers; credentials; financial information; confidential, proprietary, embargoed, or contract-restricted corporate or institutional data; and content you lack the right to process.

Use only public academic literature and aggregate research data that does not identify and cannot reasonably be used to identify an individual. If prohibited data is uploaded accidentally, stop using the affected project and contact support.

6. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the Service unlawfully, deceptively, or to infringe rights
  • Do not bypass authorization, tenant isolation, rate limits, or security controls
  • Do not upload malware, scrape, probe without permission, or interfere with availability
  • Do not present generated output as independently validated or clinically approved

7. Intellectual property

Coventra’s original interface, software, branding, and documentation are owned by the operator unless stated otherwise. Third-party components remain under their own licenses in our Open Source and Third-Party Notices. You retain rights in your research data, reviews, and publications and remain responsible for rights to uploaded PDFs, templates, and Community content.

8. Infrastructure and third parties

The Service uses self-hosted Supabase software for database and authentication functions, Cloudflare for public ingress and R2 object storage, a separate R analysis service, Axiom for operational observability, transactional email delivery, and other components named in our notices. Providers may process limited data needed for their functions under their own terms.

9. No warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, OR DATA RETENTION.

We do not warrant statistical or R-package output, extracted values, methodological suitability, uninterrupted operation, permanent storage, compatibility, or that every defect or security risk will be found.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA, RESEARCH TIME, REPUTATION, OPPORTUNITY, PROFITS, FUNDING, PUBLICATION, ACADEMIC CREDIT, OR REGULATORY STATUS.

The operator’s total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount paid during the twelve months before the event or US$100. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so part of this section may not apply.

11. Your responsibility and indemnity

You are responsible for lawfulness, permissions, ethics approvals, de-identification, accuracy, and appropriate use. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the operator harmless from third-party claims and reasonable costs arising from prohibited uploads, infringement, unlawful use, or material breach of these Terms.

12. Backups and termination

Keep independent, current backups and exports. Coventra is not an archival repository. We may restrict access to protect users or infrastructure, investigate misuse, comply with law, or respond to a material breach, and may discontinue the beta with reasonable notice when practicable.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms as the beta changes. We will update the effective date and provide reasonable notice of material changes when practicable. Stop using the Service and export your data if you do not accept an update.

14. Applicable law

These Terms are governed by applicable law without overriding mandatory consumer protections. Disputes will be heard by a court or tribunal with lawful jurisdiction. A specific governing-law and venue clause should be added if the Service is later operated through a registered entity.

15. Contact

Questions, legal notices, and prohibited-data reports may be sent to support@coventra.app.
