What extraction is for
Extraction turns included-study reports into structured data. Coventra supports baseline characteristics, outcomes, and study-design fields, with source page, quote, and provenance metadata where available.
Add PDFs
- Open the Extraction workspace and select a study.
- Upload the PDF directly, or use open-access fetch when that workflow is available for your project.
- Wait for text extraction and evidence indexing to finish.
- Open the PDF.js evidence viewer and confirm the report is readable.
- Use the extraction grid to add or edit fields.
Use provenance well
- Capture source page and quote when extracting a value.
- Keep units in the dedicated unit fields where the template provides them.
- Use harmonization helpers for common conversions, but verify the converted value.
- Do not overwrite uncertainty measures without recording what changed.
- Review validation warnings before freezing or exporting data.
Optional suggestions
Premium projects can use human-reviewable study-characteristics suggestions where configured. Suggestions are drafts, not final extracted values. Review every suggestion before applying it.
Only rely on suggestion tools that are visible in your current project. Availability can vary by plan and project configuration.
Data freeze
Use project data freeze when the extraction set is ready for final analysis. A freeze helps separate final-analysis snapshots from ongoing edits.
